Minister of Social Affairs Urges People to Participate in Preventing the Spread of Covid-19

TBONG KHMUM: The Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, Vong Sauth, called on the public to continue preventing the spread of Covid-19 by strictly implementing the '3 Do’s and 3 Don’t’s' measures consistently, and getting vaccinated to protect everyone.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new pavilion at Mongkul Vann II pagoda, also known as Stung Touch pagoda in Tbong Khmum province, Minister Vong Sauth reminded people not to neglect the threat of Covid-19 and to join the government in the fight against this global pandemic.

He said that the Covid-19 vaccine was provided to the people for free and that everyone should go and get vaccinated to make society more immune to this deadly disease.

The Minister also confirmed that the maintenance of peace under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen has led to the development and construction of infrastructure at the local level throughout the country, including in both the Buddhist and imperial spheres, even despite Cambodia being affected by the Covid-19 crisis.

Minister Vong Sauth said, "What we have today is because our country is safe, stable and peaceful under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen, so we must work together to protect peace so that we can maintain and build more new achievements."

The Minister and his wife also brought a 120 million riel (more than US $29,000) donation courtesy of the President of the National Assembly, Heng Samrin, and his wife, Sao Ty Heng Samrin, which was a combination of both their personal funds and donations from various other donors, intended for the building of Stung Touch primary school in Kak commune, Ponhea Krek district, Tbong Khmum province.

As of Friday, 4 March, Cambodia has recorded a total of 131,738 Covid-19 cases (including 20,844 imported cases) and 3,038 deaths. A total of 125,536 cases have been treated successfully, the current tally for community transmitted Omicron cases is at 10,310.
